King Henry II has banished his wife, Eleanor of Aquitaine,
locked her in the castle tower and taken a nubile French mistress.
All hell breaks loose when Eleanor is temporarily freed for the
holidays and all three of their sons vie to inherit the throne.
James Goldman's classic black comedy serves up a tasty slice of
British history.
THE LION IN
WINTER is a collaborative effort with Marquette University.
Over 20 students and faculty are serving as actors, designers,
understudies and production personnel.
(The role of Eleanor will be played by understudy Jacque Troy on
Sat. April 30 at 8:00 pm.)

The Broadway Theater Center is earning its title these days. The Milwaukee Chamber Theatre’s production of The Lion in Winter is a bit of a throwback to the Golden Age of the Great White Way, when the flash and dazzle of a Broadway production was located in true star-power and snappy writing rather than computerized special effects or overblown rock-opera scores.
