Develoment Manager opening

Milwaukee Chamber Theatre (MCT) is seeking an experienced development professional to become the theatre's Development Manager.

Job Description: A candidate who has demonstrated strong donor relation skills as well as excellent organizational, interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills will thrive in this role.  Ability to manage multiple tasks independently, and as part of a professional and volunteer team, is necessary. Experience in the arts is a plus. Must be able to write and speak persuasively about the organization's mission and build relationships resulting in approximately $500,000 in contributed income from foundations, corporations, individuals and events.  The position reports to, and is supported by, the Managing Director.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

-Write grants to foundations, corporations and government agencies for general operations, sponsorships and special projects; provide follow-up reports to organizations and the theatre board.

-Assist in planning, designing and coordinating all fundraising appeals; write all solicitation and acknowledgement letters.

-Assist in soliciting corporate donations and sponsorships.

-Act as staff liaison to the United Performing Arts Fund, write narrative for UPAF allocation application, and coordinate MCT staff and board participation in the annual UPAF campaign.

-Lead and manage meetings with MCT's Development and Special Events Committees.

-Act as staff liaison to the Milwaukee Chamber Theatre Friends, MCT's volunteer support group.

-Plan and coordinate donor cultivation events throughout the year as well as MCT's annual "Cheers To Chamber" Gala.

-Maintain accurate gift tracking donor database; distribution of timely thank-you letters/donor benefits as gifts are received.

-Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field with previous development experience.  Must demonstrate ability to multi-task, problem solve and work independently.  Computer literate - Microsoft Word and Excel required; Raiser's Edge a plus.  Ideal candidate will exhibit creativity, enthusiasm, and appreciation of theatrical performance. Knowledge of the Milwaukee theatre community and arts funding strongly recommended.  Some nights and weekends required.
